About Us - Getting involved
The Lower Murray Darling Catchment Management Authority (LMD CMA) is about bringing communities, Landcare, indigenous communities, industry and all levels of Government together to improve the productivity, profitability and the natural resources of the Lower Murray Darling catchment.
The LMD CMA can help local people by:
Administering incentive funding for on-ground works and training that will improve the natural resources of the Lower Murray Darling catchment, including management of native vegetation.
Undertaking and coordinating targeted projects and programs that are essential for productive and profitable landscapes.
What can you do to help?
There are many ways individuals can help improve the natural resources of the Lower Murray Darling catchment.
Anyone can become involved in looking after their catchment by joining of the active Landcare groups. These groups are made up of local volunteers who aim to reverse land degradation and promote sustainable agriculture.
- You can also help around your home and work place by doing simple things such as;
- conserving water
- planting native vegetation
- preventing pollutants such as litter, oil and garden wastes from entering stormwater drains
- recycling practices
- choosing low phosphorus washing products
- adding mulch to your garden
- installing a water tank
- using low voltage lighting
- using passive solar design when building your home
- using water saving shower heads
- washing the car on the lawn.
