Veg Futures 2006: |
Veg Futures 2006: The conference in the field The conference covers the role of vegetation in productive landscapes: from regional planning to practice. The committee encourages contributions that demonstrate the joint approaches taken by researchers and the community to manage native vegetation. The program at Veg Futures 2006 will be structured around five ‘big’ questions of native vegetation management: 1: What is the role and value of native vegetation in the regional landscape? 2: Who pays for native vegetation management? 3: How do we integrate conservation and production? 4: What are we doing about the threats to native vegetation (action and on–ground works)? 5: How do we know if we are making a difference (monitoring and evaluation)? www.greeningaustralia.org.au/ . 'Toughin' it out' Survival skills for dealing with suicidal thoughts. A doctor in Queensland has developed a very very simple pamphlet on survival skills for dealing with suicidal thoughts. It is called 'Toughin' it out' and is a different take on the suicide prevention issue in that it focuses on the person with suicidal thoughts rather than training others to notice behaviour of people at risk of attempting suicide. This is excellent, worth checking out! |
